Today we celebrate the might avocado.  The delicious Mexican food and toast staple is getting it's own day, and you get the presents!

According to Brand Eating, restaurants and stores across the county are lining up deals for guac-lovers today.  Locally, at Chipotle, you can get free guacamole on your dish simply for asking!  If you want to recite some avocado-inspired poetry in the process, that's up to you - here are some pretty good examples.

Also, it's worth noting that the first name for the avocado was "alligator pear."  It was so named by Irishman Sir Hans Sloane in in 1696.  In addition, the green berry has more potassium than a banana and the skin is toxic to your dogs and cats. That's right - biologists say that the avocado isn't a fruit or a vegetable is a one-seeded berry!
