New Amazon Distribution Center Coming to Texarkana

Great news for Texarkana!  Plans are underway to open an Amazon Distribution Center in Texarkana.

According to the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, representatives with AR-TX REDI announced that a distribution center will be located on property owned by the Chamber of Commerce on East 19th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas.

No word on when the construction project will begin but officials at this time say there are still a few business hurdles to get through but ensures it will happen. This means more new industrial growth for the Texarkana area as well as new job opportunities. How many people will be employed is still to be determined.

This will mark the second Amazon Distribution Center in this region following the recent opening of the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Shreveport, Louisiana according to KSLA-TV

A new Amazon Distribution Center in Little Rock, Arkansas opened in 2021 which created 500 new jobs.

What is the difference between an Amazon Distribution Center and an Amazon Fulfillment Center?

An Amazon Distribution Center is not typically involved in shipping products directly to consumers as a fulfillment center does. The distribution center is more of a hub in the supply chain where the products are received from suppliers and then distributed to retail stores and fulfillment centers.
