I will forever remember the moment I first went to Mae & Co in South Shreveport. I was an instant fan! This place just hits different. I wanted to dive into everything, but for a long time, I never mustered up the courage to order the massive, dedicated LFC Fried Chicken Plate all by myself. Luckily, I found a friend who was absolutely down to split that delicious dish, and then some.

And let me just say, I stand by the hype: this is the best damn fried chicken in Shreveport.

The presentation is a work of art. Your two Airline Fried Chicken Breasts are perfectly placed on a bed of creamy Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes & Ricotta, all swimming in a savory, unforgettable gravy that just seals the deal. It takes comfort food and elevates it to a whole new level.

A Savory Beignet You Can't Miss

Before you even get to that spectacular chicken, you have to try the appetizer that surprised me: the beignets. Forget the powdered sugar, Mae & Co uses those warm, fluffy pockets as a vehicle for their delicious, house-made Poblano Pimento Cheese.

This unique combination is a can't-miss appetizer in Shreveport; it’s so delicious, it just screams Louisiana flavor. You also can't overlook the light and fresh Marsh Green Salad, but you won't want to stop eating it.

Two Concepts, One Visionary Chef

Mae & Co is the casual dining concept from Chef Blake Jackson, who has been keeping the Ark-La-Tex food scene on its toes. His latest announcement was the opening of Heron, an upscale concept right next door in the Provenance Community.

Some people might think opening two completely different concepts side-by-side is overzealous, but it perfectly reflects the Chef's love of everything from casual oyster dives (Mae & Co) to elevated fine-dining restaurants (Heron).

Go check out the genius behind these concepts, and for the love of all that is delicious, order that fried chicken!

Mae & Co. is located at 1023 Provenance Pl Blvd Suite 200, Shreveport, LA 71106.
