Expect Delays as DOTD Starts Massive Colquitt Road Project Tomorrow
We have complained long enough about the roads in Louisiana and by the looks of the incredible volume of work being done right now, it would appear someone was listening.
With current projects on US 79 in Minden and lengthening the I-20 West exit ramp to Bert Kouns along with the finishing touches on the multi-year I-20 restructuring project in Bossier City and the construction of a new Jimmie Davis Bridge, you probably are well aware that things are finally getting some attention in North Louisiana.
And it would appear there are even more projects in the works. In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers are advised they are about to begin a $9.2 million project to repair and improve a nearly 10 mile section of LA 525 (Colquitt Road) in south Caddo Parish.
Work is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, August 13, and isn't expected to be completed until late Spring 2027, barring inclement weather or other unforeseen variables that could alter the approximate finish date.
With this newest Colquitt Road project, which will stretch from US 171 (Mansfield Rd) in Shreveport to LA 169 at Spring Ridge, work will include full-depth base repairs to strengthen the roadway, cross drain pipe replacement, concrete pavement patching, milling to remove old asphalt, new asphalt paving, fresh roadway striping, and related work.

The contractor will begin with the full-depth base repair portion of the project at various locations along LA 525, before moving on to subsequent construction activities.
Motorists should expect alternating or intermittent lane closures (with the possibility of flagging operations at times) to allow construction to progress safely and efficiently. Drivers are strongly urged to utilize patience, caution, and reduced speed through the work zone.
During the cross drain pipe replacement, a full road closure at the designated location will be necessary. DOTD will issue an additional MyDOTD notification and specific location information when that date is finalized.
