The plan is to stock millions of these fingerlings into Louisiana lakes through stocking season which will continue through mid-June.

Between April 21 and April 23, LDWF Inland Fisheries biologists stocked the following lakes with these corresponding counts of Florida Largemouth Bass:

  • Oil and Gas Park (Jeff Davis) – 254
  • Purple Heart Memorial Park (Beauregard) – 50
  • Leesville Park Pond (Vernon) – 100
  • Vernon Lake (Vernon) – 85,570
  • Iatt Lake (Grant) – 71,180

Additionally, the following lakes in north Louisiana also received a healthy stocking of these Florida bass fingerlings that have the potential to reach well beyond ten pounds:

  • Ivan Lake (Bossier) – 11,600
  • Lake Bistineau (Webster) – 140,600
  • Bayou D'Arbonne (Union) – 211,010

Lake Bistineau State Park was there to view the stocking and was excited enough to post it on their Facebook page.

In the social media post from LDWF, everyone who might be interested in helping to grow Louisiana's bass population, is reminded to purchase a Louisiana Largemouth Bass license plate!

Revenue generated will go to LDWF and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation to help fund the production and stocking of Florida Bass in Louisiana.
