National Night Out is actually the first Tuesday in August, but whomever came up with that date has obviously never spent a summer in Louisiana!

That's why here in Northwest Louisiana, we decided a number of years ago to stall our party until the first Tuesday of October. It's still hot then, but usually a little easier to tolerate.

When Will We Celebrate National Night Out Here In Our Area?

This year we will be celebrating on Tuesday, October 3rd, and in Bossier Parish the party will run from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, so bring out your best Rotel or casserole and get ready to hang with your neighbors.

Of course, National Night Out was designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and strengthen partnerships between our neighbors and law enforcement and Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington would like to meet you and your neighbors and for you to get to meet the Bossier Deputies.  “I encourage residents to hold block parties, cookouts, or other outdoor activities to help build strong relationships with their neighbors and get to know the deputies who patrol their area,” said Sheriff Whittington.

Here's How The Bossier Sheriff's Department Will Celebrate The Night

Bossier Sheriff’s Office deputies will be out and about meeting residents. Posse members will be out fingerprinting children, joined by Bossier Sheriff’s Office motorcycle patrol, K-9 team, mounted patrol and parish firefighters, and EMTs.

If you are planning on hosting a block party on October 3rd and would like for the Bossier Sheriff's Office and parish first responders to participate, please contact Lt. Matt Gaydos at 965-2203 or at mgaydos@bossiersheriff.com
