No, our LSU Tigers football team didn't look very good defensively this past Saturday and their shortcomings ultimately cost us the game and very likely a chance at the SEC West and any chances of a National Championship.

However, it wasn't the defense, or lack thereof, that riled most Jesus loving LSU fans.

It was the comment of one of ESPN's broadcasters. Robert Lee Griffin III, better known as RGIII, is a former NFL quarterback, and for the most part, his analysis of the LSU/Ole Miss game was insightful, informative and provided viewers with an almost "in the huddle" feeling.

However, it was Griffin's comment immediately following an Ole Miss stop of LSU that left us open-mouthed. Several defenders slammed into LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and lifted him up to keep him short of a first down.  To this, Griffin commented,  "They lifted that man up to the sky like he was Jesus, letting him know they were gonna put him on the cross right there."  This flew in the face of all things Holy and felt much akin to a direct attack on all Christianity.

Personally, upon hearing the comment, I thought I had completely misunderstood what had just been said. It was then that social media began to light up. Others had heard the comment just as I had. In fact, Ethan Arbuckle, an attorney in DeSoto Parish, was the first of my friends to ask about the misguided comment.

Others quickly followed.

And by yesterday afternoon, most of the major networks were citing the incident with reports from Fox News, Sports Illustrated, and even one report from the New York Post.

While I'm not sure of the intent of the comment, it was certainly not very well thought out and left a bad taste in the mouth of Christian viewers who were unfortunate enough to witness it.
