Haughton Drivers Expect 4 Weeks of Highway 80 Delays Starting April 22
Drivers in the Haughton area are about to be in for yet another delay in their travel times.

For those unaware, construction has been going on for a while in downtown Haughton as the new intersection for LA 3227 and LA 157 is being constructed. Hopefully, that project will end soon, but a new wrinkle that's just been revealed will bring on approximately four weeks of additional challenges on Highway 80 (US 80).
In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers are being advised that beginning in one week, on Wednesday, April 22, at 8:00 am, the outside (right) westbound lane of US 80 at Wafer Road in Haughton will be closed.
This lane closure is scheduled to remain in place for approximately four (4) weeks, and is necessary to allow a contractor to build a right turn lane on the west side of Wafer Road.

This lane closure is located approximately 1.2 miles west of the US 80/LA 614 intersection.
Of course, with any project of this kind, work will be performed "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work days.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
