It’s happened to most of us. We’ve been in a hurry to go somewhere or do something and next thing you know there is a law enforcement vehicle behind you. You hope that those lights don’t turn on, but of course, you’re getting pulled over. You might ask the officer why you were pulled over, but you already know why, you were speeding. But how much is a speeding ticket in the state of Texas going to cost you?

That’s a difficult question to answer because there are so many factors which would play into the cost of the citation. Some of the factors include how fast you were going, how much over the speed limit you were going, what were the road conditions like, and were you in a school zone?

Speeding Tickets in Different Texas Cities Will Vary

Forbes came out with a list of average speeding tickets in six different Texas cities including: Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. You can find the different averages listed below. They found the average for tickets when going 10 over, 15 over, 20 over, and 30 mph over the speed limit.

The Ticket is Only the Beginning

Remember after receiving a speeding ticket and dealing with that stress. You also might have your insurance premiums increase as well. You don’t want that headache and officers don’t want to pull you over and write you a ticket. So, this is your friendly reminder to avoid all of that nonsense and make sure you’re not going too fast. We all know people drive fast in Texas but you don’t want to be the person that sticks out as officers are checking speeds.
