Last month Netflix sent out an email letting its user know that they are raising the prices of some of their plans.

With another price increase, the fourth in four years, you would think there would be backlash from the subscribers, but Netflix says it's business as usual in a press release:

The cancel reaction continues to be low, exceeding our expectations, and borrower households converting into full-paying memberships are demonstrating healthy retention.

How much will the new Netflix plans cost?

The company's cheapest option, which includes ads, will remain at $6.99 and the “Standard” plan will stay at $15.49. However, the "Basic" and "Premium" plans will both increase by $2. That will bring the "Basic" plan to $11.99 and the "Premium" plan to a cost of $22.99.

You would also assume that another price hike isn't necessary after the company started to crack down on password sharing earlier this year, which resulted in Netflix has gaining 16 million new subscribers.  Even if all the new subs are just using the "with ads" plan at $6.99 that's $111,840,000 extra a MONTH, not including the revenue made from the ads themselves.

With all that said, Netflix has come a long way as a company from mailing out DVDs to customers. It's my favorite streaming service and as long as I can pay for a much cheaper version with ads, I'll be happy.
