Here Are A Few Things You Will Only See In Louisiana
LOUISIANA GAS STATION FOOD
Louisiana gas stations just hit a little different. This is the kind of excellent food you'll find at most gas stations in the Pelican State. They cook everything daily, so it's good, fresh, and hot. Along with a fill-up at the pump, you can get a belly full of everything from pork or chicken cracklins, homemade sausage, boudin links, and boudin balls, packaged pre-seasoned meats such as stuffed chicken and pork chops to fried ribs, rice dressing, and more.
LOUISIANA SPICE CABINET
If you're from Louisiana, you have every one of these spices and more. Off the bat, I see a few things the kitchen cabinet is missing, like Slap Ya Mama, Steen's Syrup, Cattlemen's Louisiana Hot & Spicy BBQ Sauce, Zatarains Fish Fry, and maybe three different Tabasco sauce flavors. However, they might be in the pantry or behind the spices we can see. Nonetheless, this is the kind of spice cabinet you will only see in a Louisiana home.
AN ALLIGATOR SUNNING
It's not uncommon to encounter this situation in Louisiana, especially if you are fishing at one of the many bayous lakes, rivers, or swamps. Louisiana is 15% water. Guess who the occupants are? As you can see, this Gator is catchin' up on his sun tan. You've got one choice...FIND ANOTHER BRIDGE!
BOUDREAU & THIBODEAU'S CAJUN COOKIN SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
This a restaurant you will only see in Louisiana. Houma, Louisiana, to be exact. Make sure you bring a tissue so you can dry your eyes. The food is so good, it'll make you cry! This reminds me of the time when the restaurant ran out of fish:
Boudreaux and Thibodeaux got up real early one morning to go fishing at the lake near their house. When they get there, still in the dark, they remember that the best fishing spot is across the lake, but they didn't bring their pirogue with them.
They are trying to figure out how to get across to the other side,
when Boudreaux has a brain storm. "I tell you what, Thib. I'll shine my flashlight on the water, and you walk across on de beam of light."
Thibodeaux tells him, "Mais, you must tink I'm stoopid or sumting !
I know you before today, yeh. Jus when I get halfway across, you gonna turn off de light
LOUISIANA RUSH HOUR SNACK
If there is one thing we like to do in Louisiana, it's eat! For the most part, the natives live a laid-back lifestyle, but they don't always have time to cook. Every now and then, you gotta pick up a snack while running errands. What do you do? Rush on over to the gas station and buy a pepper jack cheese boudin ball and a one-pound bag of pork cracklins to tie you over until supper time. That way, you gotta whole hour to take care of your business!
LOUISIANA DATE NIGHT
It don't matter how you get there, as long as you geaux. Right? Isn't this the sweetest thing you ever seen? Bobby Boucher and the love of his life Vicki Vallencourt are still going strong. They all grown up now! Mama say dem fools at Wendy's never put enough ketchup on ya burger. Mama say they the Devil. So, Bobby and Vicki just go to Sonic now.
