While it's hard to know what motivates people to want to lead a life of crime. Here are 7 of Louisiana's craziest criminal cases, and proof that some people just aren't cut out for this line of work. These are some of the craziest and downright bizarre and leave you scratching your head.

Here are 7 of the silliest, stupidest, or just plain bizarre crimes that have happened in Louisiana in the past 10 years.

1.) TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE ROBBER

Well, I guess it's safe to say, we know what this guy's favorite cartoon was. A Lafayette man thought robbing a convenience store wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mask would be a great idea. Maybe it's me, but seems like you wouldn't want to stand out if you're gonna rob a place.

The Turtle in disguise was 18-year-old Lacorrion Detron according to the Lafayette Police Department. What an employee thought was a gun in a plastic bag, turned out to be his trusty ol' stick wrapped in plastic. It is hard to tell from the police video, what Ninja Turtle he's supposed to be, being he's not wearing a colored bandana.

Lafayette PD said, "The suspect went behind the counter and attempted to open the register, but was unsuccessful." Needless to say, the thief managed to steal two wallets that were under the counter before fleeing from the scene. I guess his turtle power wasn't working that day, because he got caught a short time later.

2.) POLICE DEPARTMENT PARKING LOT DOPE DEALER

Maybe this is a case of getting high off your supply, but this guy has to be the dumbest criminal on planet Earth. A Shreveport man has just been released from prison, and you'd think the guy is looking forward to starting a new lease on life or trying to keep a low profile for a little while at least. Nah, not this dude.

The Bossier Sheriff's Office got a call about a suspicious person hanging out around the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy. By the time deputies arrived on the scene, they found 25-year-old Robert Stephenson two buildings down in the Bossier Maximum Security Facility parking lot.

Stephenson was approached by law enforcement, who asked if they could search his vehicle. He declined. So, law enforcement called out K-9 units to do an exterior sniff. The dog alerted Stephenson had something in the driver's side door. That something was marijuana and digital scales. Stephenson has had several prior drug arrests but from Bossier Max and was being held on a separate Bossier City Police Department arrest.

3.) WOMAN BREAKS INTO A DENTIST OFFICE HIDING IN A BOX

Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that 44-year-old Casandra Kiya Wooten went to the dentist's office after hours to commit her crime. According to the authorities, she drove to the office and parked in front of the entrance before walking around to the back door of the office.

She likely put the large box behind the building before the break-in. Needless to say, the security cameras caught the whole debacle from start to finish! Wooten entered the box to conceal her identity as she entered the back door. She then ditched the box once she got past the camera.

4.)  LOUISIANA SPORTSCASTER MURDERS HIS WIFE

In 2008, a high-profile case captured the nation's attention when a New Orleans radio and TV sportscaster, Vince Marinello, was charged with murdering his wife. If that's not bad enough, he wrote himself a step-by-step, to-do list on how he was going to carry out the heinous crime.

The authorities raided Marinello's house and incredibly while searching for the murder weapon and clues. Investigators found a 14-check list that matched the exact details of the crime. Talk about a smoking gun! He was be sentenced to life, and died on February 21, 2020 (age 82 years), at the Dixon Correctional Institute, Jackson, LA evidence was a 14-point list of things related to the crime including "Gun - River on way to mama

5.) BEAUTY SHOP BEATDOWN

Caddo Crime Stoppers Director and Shreveport Police Officer James Taliaferro reported Jared Gipson, tried to rob Blalocks Beauty School in Shreveport. He didn't get a haircut, but he did get his a** whooped! Officer Taliaferro said "The point is these are just opportunity crimes, and a lot of times these criminals don't give too much forethought to what they are doing,"

He could say that again. The instructors and students at the beauty school tore Gipson's butt up so badly, he needed medical care at a nearby hospital. This story was so crazy, that Jason Gipson became an overnight celebrity as his dumb a** story gained national attention. He was also awarded the "World's Dumbest" Criminal by True TV

6.)  THE BUCKET-HEAD ROBBER

Surveillance cameras caught 23-year-old Richard Boudreauxhim paying a visit to his old job, Kenny's Seafood in Slidell, Louisiana. The man was wandering through the building with a five-gallon bucket on his head in an attempt to rob the place.

This has got to be a first. Needless to say, his disguise didn't work and he got caught. According to Slidell PD, Boudreauxhim said the reason he had the bucket on his head was because he forgot his mask.

7.) THE BANK ROBBER WHO JUST COULDN'T STAND UP

When it comes to being clumsy, this guy takes the cake. A Shreveport man robbed a local credit union, in broad daylight, and tripped over his own feet while making a run for it.

After pulling off the heist, the man takes off running for his getaway car and en route, the idiot fell three times before he got in the car!  What the hell? Where was security? In bed?

According, to the Shreveport Sheriff's Department, they never caught the guy! But, lucky for us they did catch his clumsy getaway on camera.Seeing is believing. Here's the hilariously stupid surveillance footage of the incident.
