“Not every ER visit comes from a dramatic accident. The truth is, a lot of us end up in the ER because of the dumbest, most embarrassing accidents imaginable. And if you’ve ever been stitched up for something clumsy, you know the hardest part is explaining how it happened.

My Own Dumb Injury While Nesting

When I was nesting before my baby was born, I went on a late-night cleaning spree. I was trying to seal a glass container that would not close right. Frustrated, I slammed the lid down as hard as I could.

The jar exploded in my hands. Blood everywhere. I cut straight through nerves, needed a ton of stitches, and my ring finger has never been the same. It took years for the nerves to grow back. Who would've thought slamming glass on a counter would break it?...

Thanks to Reddit, I realized I’m not the only one with a ridiculous injury story. The internet is full of people admitting the most outrageous ways they’ve managed to hurt themselves.

“I was sharpening a knife and zoned out. My arm itched… and I scratched it with the knife. Barely any blood, but now I’ve got a scar shaped like a warning sign to never multitask again.”

“I did the worm at a party… and popped a rib.Breakdancing always looks cooler in your head until you’re icing your chest the next morning.

A Reminder We’re All Clumsy Sometimes

It’s easy to laugh at these accidents, but there’s something strangely reassuring about them too. These are the type of injuries you can only admit to online.
