This week, 67 people were booked and kept at the Caddo Correctional Center for various crimes.
One of those booked was brought in for a shooting on Highland Square.
Earlier this month, officers responded to Highland Square where they found a man in the road suffering two gunshot wounds to his lower body.
SPD Officers immediately jumped into action rendering aid to the victim, applying tourniquets to both of his legs. The Doctors who treated the victim at the hospital said this act likely saved his life. Shreveport Fire arrived shortly after and transported him for further treatment.
According to the victim, his wife and her boyfriend arrived at the residence in a black Nissan Altima. After a heated argument, a gun was pulled and the victim was shot. The man's wife and boyfriend fled the area.
Detectives quickly identified the suspected shooter, known as “AD,” as Aderius Benton. Benton was arrested and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Homicide earlier this week.
From SPD:
"If you have any additional information, contact SPD at 318-673-7300 or Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. All tips remain anonymous. Proud of our officers for their life-saving actions and continued commitment to keeping Shreveport safe."
Another was locked up for attempted murder after he was taken-down by a SPD K9 Officer.
Yesterday, Shreveport Police and the U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to serve a felony warrant for a man wanted for attempted murder.
The warrant was for Alvin A. Robinson, wanted for Attempted Second-Degree murder. Police and Marshals executed the warrant at a home in the 5000 block of Roberts Street.
Robinson wasn’t at the home, but Officers gathered enough information to determine that he was driving a blue SUV. Moments later, the SUV passed by the home while Police were still there. Officers attempted to stop Robinson, but he took off, leading officers on a brief chase before crashing into a telephone pole and abandoning the SUV.
Robinson jumped several fences trying to get away from police, but he didn’t outrun Karo. K9 Officer Karo was deployed and successfully apprehended Robinson on the next block.
Robinson was taken into custody and charged with:
• Attempted Second-Degree Homicide
• Aggravated Flight From an Officer
• Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway
From SPD:
"Additional charges are pending.
Outstanding teamwork by SPD, the U.S. Marshals Task Force, and K9 Karo for getting a dangerous individual off our streets."
