Caddo Parish Narrows Sites for Proposed Multisport Complex Near I-20
Caddo Parish leaders are narrowing down the possible sites for a proposed multi-sports complex. The Economic Development Committee of the Caddo Commission has heard from the team working on this proposal.
They are recommending a site along the I 20 corridor west of I 49. No specific property has been named. Sites along I-49 in south Shreveport have also been considered and property on 3132 near Walker Road have also been discussed. But no final decision has been made. Some Commissioners believe I-20 west of Pines Road is probably a top contender for this facility.

What Are Caddo Commissioners Saying About Proposed Sites
Commissioner Grace Anne Blake says she hopes her colleagues pick a site that has "easy access from I-20 and an area that has opportunity for expansion and growth."
According to documents submitted to the Commission, an "I-20 site is best because it is more affordable per acre and has easy access from the east and west." The area also has numerous hotels and good restaurant options and plenty of room for expansion.
This sports complex will include outdoor fields, more walking trails and tons of parking. A facility management company will be hired to market this plan along with the Shreveport Bossier Sports Commission.

There was some talk about using the Fairgrounds site. But some Commissioners say it's not large enough. Commissioner Roy Burrell reached out to KEEL to say the Louisiana State Fair Grounds has more than 150 acres. The sports complex needs 12 acres. Burrell says the comment that it's not large enough.
This is misinformation being pushed by some Commissioners who are trying to predetermine the site locations. Any potential urban location was never seriously considered.
Burrell also says "the Fairgrounds is not the only available property to consider in the urban area which is more centrally located and has the greatest employment needs." He also has concerns that every Commissioner was not included in discussions.
This project depends on voter approval. It will be on the November 3 ballot.
