Who Will Lead Caddo Schools Until New Superintendent Is Found?

SHREVEPORT, LA - The Caddo School Board has unanimously approved the appointment of Leisa Woolfolk to serve as interim superintendent of Caddo Parish Schools. She is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer for the school system. She has been an employee with Caddo schools for more than 40 years.

Woolfolk Offered These Comments to the Board:

I stand before you today with a profound sense of gratitude and humility as I accept the role of Interim Superintendent of Schools. It is with great honor that I take on this responsibility, knowing the trust and confidence you have placed in me.

She also offered "heartfelt thanks to the educators, staff members, parents, and students who make up our school community. Your unwavering commitment to excellence in education is the driving force behind our collective success."

The board also voted unanimously to put out an RFP (request for proposals) to search firms for finding a new permanent superintendent. But some board members questioned the possible cost of this process. When the board hired Dr. Lamar Goree more than 10 years ago, about $60,000 was spent on a search firm.

The latest numbers from the U.S. Department of Education shows a search today could cost upwards of $100,000 and that does not include the travel to bring the candidates to town for interviews. The Board has not agreed to spend the money on a nationwide search, yet. They have simply agreed to put out an RFP and see what the cost will be.

Woolfolk says she will retire once a new Superintendent is in place.

I am committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, where every decision is guided by what is best for our students.

I pledge to serve with dedication and integrity every day. Once a permanent Superintendent is named, then I will retire.

 

She says she will "continue to strive for academic excellence, in a fostering environment where all members feel safe, valued and seen. We must provide every student with the support they need to thrive."

The Board has set a goal of getting a new Superintendent in place by August 1.
