Child Injured During Shootout in a Shreveport Neighborhood
On May 4th, at 7:27 p.m. Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 700 block of West 62nd Street in reference to a shooting. As officers arrived a 6-year-old victim was located suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. At this time there have been no updates given on the condition of the child.
Detectives were able to determine that the victim was outside playing in her front yard when multiple subjects began shooting. The subjects then fled in a vehicle. The detectives with the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit responded and released footage of one of the suspect's vehicles. Shreveport Police are asking for the public to assist in bringing these violent criminals to justice.
This shooting is a senseless act of violence that injured an innocent child. We urge our community to be proactive in bringing these offenders to justice.
