Go VIP for Centenary’s First Homecoming Football Game in 77 Years
The Centenary football program is playing their first official NCAA Football season since 1947. The Gents have had a pretty successful start to their return, currently sitting at a 3-4 overall record, and a 3-2 record in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play.
Their first game back to official play was a home game against Hendrix, which ended in a loss for the Gents. They got their first win of their return on September 21st against Austin College, 36-17. Then came their first home win, October 5th against Lyon, 35-14.
Since then, the Gents lost at home to McMurry, and they picked up one more win, beating Lyon a second time, at Lyon this time. Now Austin College comes to Shreveport to play the Gents in their first homecoming game in nearly 8 decades.
It's been 77 years since the last Centenary homecoming football game in Shreveport. That game took place on November 8th, 1947 at Fairgrounds Stadium against Southwestern Louisiana. Centenary lost that game by a final score of 21-7 in front of an estimated 7,000 fans.
This year, playing a team Centenary has already beaten this season, the odds are pretty good that the Gents will secure a victory in their homecoming return. You can be a part of this historic game in Shreveport this weekend, and you can do it VIP style.
