LSU Basketball Legend Shaq Sponsors Gun Buyback Program In Dallas
SHREVEPORT, LA - LSU Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal is stepping up to do something about crime and gun violence in Texas. The Hall of Famer and licensed deputy is helping to sponsor a gun buyback program in Dallas this weekend.
When Is Gun Buy Back Event?
WFAA says this is being held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Dallas County Sheriff’s Training Academy at 8401 S. Polk Street in Dallas. This program is only available to Dallas County residents. You will have to show an ID which shows your address.
How Much Money Is Being Given Out?
Gun owners can snap up a $100 gift card for hand guns and a $125 gift card for each long gun. There is a limit of 3 guns per resident.
Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown says
This is an opportunity for law enforcement to educate and equip community members with tools to properly dispose of unwanted firearms. Too many deaths have occurred from firearms lying around and they end up in the hands of our vulnerable population.
