We are headed for the heart of Mardi Gras season in Shreveport and next week will be one of the biggest weeks of the year for these festivities.

The winter storm forced a delay of the Grand Bal for Centaur. The Krewe decided to move the Grand Bal to Thursday, February 5th at the Shreveport Convention Center. This means the Krewe has a big week ahead.

What Events Will Happen Next Week with Krewe of Centaur

Of course the Bal on Thursday will kick off the partying. Then we move to the Float Loading party on Friday night. The public is invited to the den on North Market from 5-9pm for this party which is called “Centaur Is a Work of Art.” Food trucks will be on site and you will get to see the floats up close and meet the royalty for the parade.

Saturday, February 7 is parade day in Shreveport. The Krewe of Centaur rolls
at 3pm on the Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport. It will head south on the Parkway and then hang a right on Shreveport Barksdale Highway and then south on East Kings. The parade wraps up at East Preston.

Weather Forecast for Parade Weekend

Things look pretty good for parade day in Shreveport. The Weather Channel says Saturday, February 7 will be sunny and 63 degrees. That is almost perfect weather for a Mardi Gras parade. There is no rain at all in the forecast. Krewe of Centaur Co-Chair April Brancamp says she is excited about the events this year and is ready for a big crowd on parade day.

Parade-goers should plan for pleasant, cool weather which is ideal for outdoor festivities.

This year could be one of the biggest Mardi Gras parades ever in our community. Folks have been holed-up at home for several days and they are ready to get out and enjoy some fun.
