I will never forget being in an elementary school class at St. Thomas Moore School in Baton Rouge when a tornado roared through town. We all had to be rushed into the hallway to take cover from the storm. My little brother was in the church where part of the roof blew off.

Of course, parents were pouring into the school to pick up the children.

My Father (who traveled for a living) was out of town and my Mom was on a business trip to Houma. She heard the news of the school being hit and panicked. She finally was able to reach my oldest brother and he picked us up.

Fast forward to 12 years later and I found myself chasing tornadoes for a living.

Louisiana is not considered “tornado alley”, but we do get our fair share of twisters.
