4.. Take a Swamp Tour (Barataria Preserve)
Spring is the best time to see the bayou wake up. At the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, you can walk free boardwalks through the swamp or book an airboat tour to see alligators emerging as the temperatures rise to a comfortable 21°C (70°F).

5. New Orleans Book Festival - March 12-15, 2026 (literary festival)
If you love books, this is the biggest book festival in the state and well worth the trip.

6. Walter B. Jacobs Nature Center (Blanchard)
This brand new park in northwest Louisiana is such a fabulous spot to explore and become one with nature. It’s an immersive experience that will put you right in the middle of a forest.

7. Ride the St. Charles Streetcar (New Orleans)
For the price of a few dollars, you can take a historic ride through the Garden District. It’s an easy way to see the city’s famous architecture and blooming spring azaleas, ending with a visit to Audubon Park or the zoo.

8. Catch a Show at the Strand (Shreveport)
If you're looking for world-class entertainment, the iconic Strand Theatre will be hosting the Peking Acrobats on March 6, Gary Owen on March 13 and the World Ballet Company performance of Swan Lake on March 14.
