Shreveport Police Arrest Three for Felony Firearm Possession
Shreveport Police continue their aggressive crackdown on individuals who are legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
Earlier this week, Shreveport police officers arrested Justin Moore, who was charged with one count of Resisting an Officer and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Moore is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior conviction involving a felon in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. This is Moore's fourth firearms-related arrest.
On Monday, officers arrested Xavier Reese, who was charged with one count of Resisting an Officer and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Reese is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a 2023 Bossier Parish conviction for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, which stemmed from an attempted murder case.
Over the weekend, SPD arrested Donzell Samuels after he was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm as well as narcotics. Samuels is facing charges of Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Distribution of Narcotics.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to targeting violent offenders, convicted felons in possession of firearms, and those who continue to endanger our community through illegal narcotics activity. Removing guns from the hands of prohibited individuals remains a key part of our effort to reduce violent crime and keep Shreveport safe."
