Late last month, Shreveport Police were dispatched to Illinois Avenue to reports of an assault and battery.

When SPD got to the apartment, they noticed that the door had been taken off of the hinges which made Police correctly assume that some kind of struggle had taken place inside.

Officers went inside of the apartment, and saw James Hardeman standing over a disheveled woman who appeared to be in distress. Officers quickly worked to separate the two and get the victim to a safe place.

Investigators were able to determine that Hardeman forcibly entered the apartment, and took the victim's cell phone preventing her from calling for help. Thankfully, there was another person in the apartment who was able to quietly call 911 to get SPD in-route.

From SPD:

"Hardman was taken into custody and now faces charges of home invasion, robbery, false imprisonment, and interfering with emergency services.

The Shreveport Police Department urges anyone experiencing domestic violence or assault to seek help immediately and thanks the community for their assistance in bringing dangerous offenders to justice."
