A "Cancer" in the Community
Law enforcement officials are describing domestic violence as a "cancer" that leaves long-lasting scars on the city's most vulnerable residents. A particularly concerning observation from the SPD is the decreasing age of both offenders and victims.

"Domestic violence destroys families and traumatizes children," the department stated, emphasizing that the shift toward younger individuals involved in these disputes underscores an urgent need for early intervention and better communication strategies within the home.
Commitment to Accountability and Safety
The Shreveport Police Department has reaffirmed its commitment to holding offenders accountable while working with community partners to provide a safety net for victims. Authorities are urging anyone in a situation that feels unsafe to seek help immediately.

"No one deserves to be a victim of abuse," the department noted. "If a situation is escalating, we urge you to remove yourself and reach out before it is too late."
