Here’re the Things You Can’t Bring to a Shreveport Mardi Gras Parade
If you’re planning to attend the Krewe of Centaur parade this Saturday in Shreveport, local police want paradegoers to be clear on what is not allowed along the route. The rules are meant to keep families, riders, and spectators safe while keeping the parade moving without interruptions.
The Shreveport Police Department released a list of prohibited items and actions that will be enforced throughout the parade area, including along Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway and nearby city streets.
Items Not Allowed on the Parade Route
Glass is a major concern for safety crews. No glass bottles or glass containers are allowed anywhere along the parade route. If it can break, leave it at home.
Drones are also prohibited. Flying drones during the parade is not allowed due to safety risks for riders, floats, and crowds.

Dangerous objects of any kind are banned, and silly string is not permitted. Police say it can create slipping hazards and interfere with parade operations.
Large flags or banners are not allowed within 50 feet of the parade route, as they can obstruct views and pose safety issues.
Rules for Behavior During the Parade
Crossing parade barricades while the parade is in progress is not allowed. Barricades are in place to protect both the crowd and parade participants.
Throwing objects at parade floats is strictly prohibited. Items should only be thrown from floats to the crowd, not the other way around.

Public nudity will not be tolerated. Police say violations will result in arrest.
Underage possession of alcohol is also a zero-tolerance issue. Anyone caught violating alcohol laws will be arrested.
Animals and Vehicles Restrictions
Animals are not allowed within 200 yards of the parade route. The only exceptions are service animals and pets secured within fenced yards of residents who live along the route.
Motorized recreational vehicles are also banned. ATVs, side by sides, dirt bikes, and similar vehicles are not allowed on any public property along the parade route. This includes grassy areas along Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway and nearby streets. Violators may be cited, arrested, and have their vehicles towed.
What Shreveport Police Want You to Know
Shreveport Police say planning ahead and following these rules will help everyone enjoy a safe and smooth Mardi Gras experience. Officers will be present throughout the route and enforcement will be active, which will make the event better for everyone in attendance.
