Shreveport Police Announce Changes Due to Humor & Harmony Festival
In preparations for the upcoming Humor & Harmony Festival that will be held in Shreveport over several days, the Shreveport Police Department has announced several changes including the temporary closure of the ABO Office, and new towing measures in regards to the festival.
The Shreveport Police Department issued the following special statement regarding the closing of the ABO Office.
Notice of ABO Office Closure
The ABO office will be closed to walk-in visitors on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024. On this day, our team will be dedicating our full attention and capacity to reviewing approximately 200 applications for the upcoming Humor and Harmony Festival. This focused effort is essential to ensure timely and efficient processing.
While the office will not be open for in-person visits, it will be available by phone to address any inquiries. We plan to resume our regular office hours and services on the following business day, Thursday, August 8th, 2024.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work diligently to support the festival preparations.
The Shreveport Police also announced they will be enforcing specific towing enforcements throughout the festival.
Shreveport Police Department Announces Towing Measures for Upcoming Festival
To ensure public safety during the upcoming festival, the Shreveport Police Department will implement towing measures for vehicles that block roadways, obstruct medical vehicles, or contribute to traffic gridlock due to illegal parking. This initiative is crucial to maintaining clear and accessible routes for emergency services and ensuring smooth traffic flow.
The Vehicle for Hire Office will coordinate with local tow companies to stage tow trucks at strategic locations for rapid response to parking violations. All towed vehicles from the downtown area will be relocated to a secure parking area. This arrangement not only enhances festival safety but also offers convenience for violators, allowing them to retrieve their vehicles from a nearby location without waiting until the next business day.
Please note that violators will be responsible for all towing fees. Any vehicles not retrieved by 5:00 a.m. on Monday will be transferred to the central storage facility.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in keeping our community safe and accessible. For more information, please contact the Shreveport Police Department.
The Humor and Harmony Festival will be held over multiple locations in Shreveport August 8th-11th, and is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the area.
