Shreveport Rapper Found Guilty of I-49 Murder

The internet rapper known as Auto-Tray has been found guilty of murder in Caddo Parish. It took a jury just 45 minutes to find 22-year-old Traveion Fields guilty of murder. The jury also found Fields, who performed online under the name Auto-Tray, guilty of Aggravated Battery.

Fields was found guilty of shooting and killing his Uncle while they were in a vehicle driving on I-49 in Caddo Parish. His Grandmother was driving the vehicle when the shooting occurred. Fields would eventually attempt to blame the shooting on his Grandmother.

In January of 2021, Fields had traveled to Shreveport from Tennessee when a YouTube channel criticized his music for its violent lyrical content. The criticism also suggested that Fields had been instigating violence in Shreveport with his music.

After his Grandmother, Debra Douglas, had agreed to drive him back to Tennessee, she asked Fields' Uncle Alan Jefferson to ride with them. While the trio was driving north on I-49, Fields took out a gun and shot Jefferson. Investigators say that based on the "powder burns" found on Jefferson's head, Fields had shot him at point-blank range.

Fields then attempted to convince his Grandmother to help him dump the body, but when she refused, Fields attacked her. He choked her in the car, but she was able to stop the vehicle. That's when Fields fled on foot, and she rushed Jefferson's body to the hospital. Jefferson was pronounced dead at Ochsner LSU Health.

Eventually, Fields was apprehended by the Caddo Sheriff's Department. He initially gave multiple different statements about the murder, even blaming his own Grandmother. But eventually confessed to the killing.

Fields will be sentenced in January of 2023, where he faces a mandatory life term without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
