Shreveport Police responded to a vehicle burglary call at 9428 Mansfield Road around 3:30 in the afternoon of April 2, 2026. Upon arrival, officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description: a Black male with dreadlocks, dressed in gray, and carrying a bag. When ordered to stop, the suspect dropped his belongings and fled, sparking a chase through the neighborhood.

Officer and Civilian Subdue Resisting Suspect

The pursuit escalated quickly as officers deployed a Taser multiple times to halt the fleeing man, identified as Daquinsha Williams. Despite being brought to the ground after being Tased several times, Williams reportedly continued to struggle and resist arrest.

The physical altercation eventually ended when a nearby civilian stepped in to assist officers in successfully securing Williams in handcuffs.

Stolen Firearms Discovered in Discarded Bag

A search of the duffle bag abandoned by Williams at the start of the chase yielded a dangerous haul. Police recovered three handguns, one of which had been reported stolen just an hour prior to the encounter.

All weapons, along with ammunition and cash found at the scene, have been processed into evidence.

Medical Evaluation and Combative Behavior

Following the Taser deployment, the Shreveport Fire Department provided immediate medical attention to Williams. However, police report that while in custody, Williams became verbally combative, threatening officers and displaying erratic behavior that included threats of self-harm. He was transported to a local hospital for a precautionary psychiatric evaluation before being cleared for booking.

Extensive Criminal Charges Filed Against Williams

Williams now faces a laundry list of charges ranging from burglary to violent resistance. His charges include:

  • Simple Burglary
  • Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
  • Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile
  • Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence
  • Battery of a Police Officer
  • Simple Escape

In addition to the new charges in Shreveport, authorities confirmed that Williams also had outstanding warrants out of Bossier City.
