
17-Year-Old Steals Car With Baby Inside in Shreveport
On Friday (1/31/25), Shreveport Police officers responded to a call regarding a stolen car. Officers learned that a one-year-old child was inside the car when it was taken. SPD detectives immediately responded to the scene, and multiple officers and detectives began searching the area.
The caller reported that she stopped at her home to grab coats for herself and her child before heading to another location. She stated that she left her vehicle running and did not remove the child from the car, as he was asleep and the weather was cold.
At 9:00 p.m., an SPD officer working an extra-duty assignment radioed in that the child had been found safely in the store’s parking lot. Shreveport Fire Department arrived on scene and checked on the child. She was unharmed.
The stolen car was found later in the parking lot of Circle K (9009 Youree Drive), near a nearby apartment complex. Shortly after, the suspect was seen running toward the apartments. Officers tracked the suspect to an apartment, where he was arrested.
The suspect, 17 year old, Marcus Madden, was arrested and charged with:
· Simple Kidnapping
· Theft of a Motor Vehicle
· Child Desertion
· Unauthorized Entry into an Inhabited Dwelling
This incident highlights the outstanding teamwork and swift response of Shreveport Police officers and detectives. Their dedication led to the safe recovery of the child and the quick arrest of the suspect.
