SHREVEPORT, LA-  Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux back 'at work' following hip replacement surgery

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux is currently working from home following a successful hip-replacement surgery he had on December 27th. When asked about the surgery and his recovery, Arceneaux told KEEL News on Thursday:

It went really well.  I am up and walking and going through physical-therapy.  I will say that I'm about a thousand percent better than I was the day before the operation. My hip had really, really deteriorated significantly... really, it almost had gotten to where I couldn't walk.

When asked whether or not he would have to have the other side done, Mayor Arceneaux said he was good to go.

I haven't had any difficulty on the other side. I'm not even sure what caused this.  I didn't fall, I didn't... I really can't point to a particular incident.  Just about eight weeks ago it just started hurting. And then it started hurting a lot.

Aceneaux said he's still using a walker to get around.  When asked when he would return back to the office, Arceneaux told KEEL News:

My goal is to have a follow up with the doctor on the (January) 10th. And my goal is to be back in the office, at least part-time, on the 13th.

Arceneaux said he's been working from home for several days now.

I have a city laptop... I'm connected with cell-phone... I'm in touch on a regular basis with all my staff.  Really, I'm able to do everything I could do.  It's a little less convenient, but I'm able to do everything I could do.

When asked if he was holding regular Zoom meetings, or holding them "as needed," the mayor stated he's not particularly a Zoom fan, and prefers to hold his meetings face-to-face whenever possible.

I actually... they come to the house. They come to the house.  I'm really a person-to-person meeting person.  I prefer to avoid Zoom.  If I need to meet with Mr. Dark, or Mr. Edwards, or Ms. Bradford, those are the three I typically would meet with, they'll come over here.  I don't live but a few blocks from city hall.
