3 Students Arrested for Bringing Automatic Rifle to School

Shreveport Parents Can Rest Easy Thanks to a Quick Thinking School Resource Officer.

According to Shreveport Police, a resource officer at Captain Shreve High School discovered a fully automatic rifle in a student's backpack. No injuries were reported and three students have been arrested and were taken into custody.

The Shreveport Police Department Has Issued a Press Release Concerning the Incident You Can Read it Below.

"Three students from Captain Shreve High School (6115 East Kings Highway) have been arrested in connection with the unlawful possession of a firearm on school premises. The incident occurred earlier today when a Shreveport Police Officer, serving as a school resource officer, discovered a fully automatic rifle concealed in a backpack.

Fortunately, due to the prompt action of the school resource officer, the firearm was seized, and no injuries were reported. The two 16-year-olds and one 14-year-old involved have been taken into custody and are facing multiple gun-related charges.

The safety and well-being of students and school staff are of paramount importance, and we commend the quick response of officers and Caddo Parish School personnel. We will continue to work closely with Caddo Parish Schools to ensure the safety and security of our schools."

Captain Shreve High School Will Be Closed on Friday, March 29th and Monday, April 1st.

The school had already planned to close down due to Easter break. The school closing is not related to the arrests made.

Several folks in the community have questions concerning why three students were arrested and charged over one gun.
