Chef Blake Jackson has made a long-awaited announcement for foodies throughout the Ark-La-Tex. South Shreveport’s latest dining destination, Heron, is nestled in the Provenance Community right next to Mae & Co. Some may think that Chef Jackson is overzealous in opening two completely different concepts right next to each other back to back. However, Chef Blake Jackson is always keeping us on our toes. We love that the two concepts reflect the chef’s love of casual oyster dives and elevated fine-dining restaurants.

The casual concept, Mae & Co. has been an amazing addition to the South Shreveport food scene, it opened in September and focuses on fresh oysters from around the country. I am convinced that Mae & Co. needs to be known for their fried chicken, but I still talk about that dish. The eatery has quickly become a go-to hangout for residents in South Shreveport.

This new space, Heron, will be a high-end seafood house like nothing we have ever seen before in Shreveport. Chef Jackson explained why he decided to name the restaurant Heron. “In the southern wild, the Great Blue Heron is a symbol of safe harbor. Herons are only staying still in places they know are safe. The last few years for me have been a journey. Changes in life. Changes in business. Yet, something about this place felt right. Heron is my nod to this next chapter. A place to land—for myself, and for the ones who grace our doors.” The concepts are housed side by side at 1023 Provenance Blvd, Suite 200, in Shreveport.

Heron Will Open its Doors on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Chef Blake Jackson is thrilled for his team to take on this new venture he said “This has been such an incredible journey to get these doors open at Heron. From demolition work to the finishing touches, our crew has been tirelessly committed to these restaurants in every way imaginable. Needless to say, it is ambitious to run this concept side by side with our beloved oyster bar, Mae & Co. But my team is all in on bringing top notch food, fantastic cocktails, and superior service to our guests. We can’t wait to see y’all at both Heron and Mae & Co!”
