Another local store says goodbye as they shut their doors one final time, as Springhill's local card and games shop Greasy Goblin Cards & Games says goodbye.

Greasy Goblin was the only local game store in Springhill leaving a vacuum in the town's card and tabletop gaming scene.

On Tuesday it was announced through their Facebook page that they have closed their doors for good. Greasy Goblin's owner Ryan, lovingly nicknamed Goblin Warchief, left a heartfelt message thanking everyone who showed support to the store over the 3 years they spent in business. Ryan, the Goblin Warchief, also left a heartfelt message to the store's regulars who were given the loving nickname of Goblins.

In the Facebook post, it was announced that all scheduled events, including games like Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, etc., have all been canceled. Fans of the store took to the comments to share their memories and sorrow at losing a beloved staple of the gaming community.

The gaming community of Springhill will now have to look elsewhere to find a place to enjoy their favorite trading card and tabletop games, with their closest options being in the Shreveport-Bossier City area.

The SBC has five different stores to consider to fulfill their gaming needs, all of which are about a 45-minute to hour-long drive away.

Gamers XP

Gamers XP has been a mainstay of the Shreveport gaming community for several years and has recently expanded to a second location in Benton. Gamers XP has weekly events for Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, Disney's Lorcana, Pokemon, and many more. Gamers XP hosts a lot of competitive events so if that's your play style this might be the store for you.

The Basement

The Basement is a local card store in north Bossier City that popped up only recently but has fostered its own laid-back and casual style of play, with TVs with gaming systems for people to sit back and enjoy, and a play area with weekly Magic The Gathering on Friday nights. Outside playing games the store has a huge variety for a relatively small storefront, carrying an assortment of RPG books, classic video games, collectible figures, and of course tabletop accessories. A store with a younger audience and a casual setting, if you're looking for a place to meet new people and kick back The Basement could be your new store.

Sportscards Louisiana

SportsCards Louisiana is, as the name suggests, a store that sells sports cards and memorabilia. It would be unfair however to claim that is all SportsCards Louisiana has up to offer. SportsCards host weekly Magic the Gathering on Friday nights and has fostered their community of competitive and casual play. Outside of the Magic The Gathering the store has play space for Warhammer and other tabletop games they occasionally host.

SteelFox Games

SteelFox in Bossier City is a very diverse store when it comes to card games, hosting not only the usual Magic The Gathering, Pokemon, and YuGiOh but Digimon, Lorcana, One Piece, and many more. If you're a hammer interested in playing a variety of games SteelFox hosts a very unique community of playstyles.
