Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is heading back to Downtown Shreveport for year #8 at the Shreveport Convention Center. This year's event will be August 18th through August 20th.

Ticket info for this year's Geek'd Con can be found right here.

Since its start, Geek'd Con has been one of the premiere comic con style events in the state of Louisiana. The event has generated millions of dollars in economic impact to the Shreveport and Bossier City area. While also bringing in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, Star Wars icons, Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame members, and horror movie legends.

This year's guests include Kevin Smith, Brandon Routh, Sam Witwer, John Barrowman, Estelle (and the rest of the Crystal Gems from Steven Universe), Kurt Angle, and more. Along with Kevin Smith, a huge cast reunion for his films will be happening in Shreveport.

When these guests come to Shreveport, they'll be in-person to meet fans, take pictures, and sign autographs. When it comes to the autograph part of that, things can get pretty cool. You can do your standard 8x10 picture autograph, or you can bring your own item to get signed.

In addition to the on-screen celebrities, there will be comic book guests too. Which will include some guests that have had a big part in what we see from the Marvel Cinematic Universe today.

One of those guests is Renee Witterstaetter, who has literally done everything in the comic book industry

Renee started out as an assistant editor at DC Comics working on Superman comics. Eventually, she moved up and worked as a colorist, editor, producer and writer. Some of the comics she worked on in her career include Superman, The Sensational She-Hulk, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man and The Avengers.

She has been involved in some great key issues in the comic industry as well too. Including Amazing Spider-Man #362, Silver Surfer #34, and Fantastic Four #358 among others.

But not only has she been a creator in the comic book world, but she's even appeared in several issues of the Sensational She-Hulk as a character in the story. With her first appearance coming in Sensational She Hulk #40 (a pretty controversial issue).

The work she did with John Byrne on Sensational She-Hulk helped pave the way for what we got in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The fourth-wall-breaking sarcasm was a staple of the work Renee and John were putting out inside She-Hulk. Not only that, but the social commentary they dropped through the comic book industry was also mirrored with the series.

On top of comics, she's worked on dozens of movies and music videos. Some her highlights there include music videos for Madonna & Usher and featured films such as Drunken Master II, Red Dragon and Rush Hour 2.
