When It Comes to Rumors Concerning Crawfish in Louisiana We All Listen.

We had heard rumblings about a bad crawfish season. What does a "rough crawfish season" look like anyway? Will prices start higher than usual and eventually drop? It happens every year, we shouldn't be too worried, right? It's worse than you think. According to KEEL News, "Prices are going to be unusually high because supply will be almost non-existent because of the severe drought of 2023."

The Severe Drought of 2023 Killed Our 2024 Crawfish Season.

LSU Agent Crawfish Specialist Mark Shirley spoke with KEEL News and said “The farmers are not going to have that source of stock to produce crawfish for next year.” Normally this is the part where we find one piece of positive news, however, it looks bleak for the Bayou State.

We are facing the worst crawfish season in recent history due to the hot and dry summer. It’s really put a hurtin on the crop this year.
Please pray for all the farmers, boilers, and vendors. It will be an extremely rough season for the entire crawfish community.
