Shreveport’s Amazon Fulfillment Center Finally Gets Opening Date
It feels like we've been talking about the Shreveport Amazon Plant for a long, long time at this point. At one point in this several year project, the facility was expected to start hiring and be close to opening in September of 2022. However, there were several delays since the original announcement that led to long term delays.
Since the original announcement and today, this facility has changed and shift, there was an announcement of a 2nd Amazon facility, a little snafu with the hiring process..it's just been a long time coming with a lot of ups and downs.
However, after all the trials and tribulations that come with a project of this size, Amazon has officially announced an opening date for the new facility located in Shreveport, Louisiana.
When Does The New Amazon Center in Shreveport, Louisiana Open?
As mentioned above, this fulfillment center has been in the works for a long, long time. But, it seems that it's finally ready to go. According to multiple sources, The Amazon Facility will hold a grand opening ceremony next Friday - September 27th, 2024.
The new, $200 million plus Amazon Fulfillment Center in Shreveport, Louisiana is located in the Hunter Industrial Park on Corporate Drive - which is near the Caddo Correctional Center in North Shreveport.
What Will Shreveport's Amazon Center Do?
According to Amazon reps, The Shreveport Center will store and ship thousands of items all across the United States and foreign countries, all from right here in Shreveport. When an Amazon customer clicks that "Buy Now" button, the robotic technology goes into action, beginning to pick and pack the items, usually within minutes of the online order.
The Shreveport Center will feature thousands of feet of conveyers throughout the facility, with the plant being divided into two sections: Incoming and Outgoing. All items in the Shreveport Center will be less than 25 pounds. The Amazon facility in Lafayette is basically the same as Shreveport's, but it is for items over 25 pounds. Amazon also has facilities in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
