The First 7 Weeks of the New Orleans Saints Season in Pictures
After starting the 2024 NFL season about as hot as you could, the New Orleans Saints have crashed back to Earth. It hasn't been pretty since their week 2 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Saints are heading into week 8 with a 2-5 record, and have some big games on the horizon. They will be on the road this week to play the Chargers in Los Angeles, then they go to Carolina the following week. Then its a pair of home games with Atlanta and the Cleveland Browns before their bye week during week 12. Of the next four games, two seem very winnable, and the other two appear to be fights.
If the Saints can find a way to win the next four in a row, they can go into their bye week with a winning record. But after losing the last 5 games in a row, that doesn't seem like it will be easy. Especially since they have been without starting quarterback Derek Carr for the last few weeks, and will continue to be without him in their matchup with the Chargers.
When the Saints had Carr, and all of his options (Chris Olave is also hurt) on offense at the start of the year, they were torching teams. They started with a big 47-10 win over the Carolina Panthers, and then went into Dallas and beat the Cowboys 44-19.
Now we've learned that both of those teams (Cowboys and Panthers) are worse than we expected them to be, but putting up 40+ points in the NFL is impressive no matter what.
However, since then, its been 5 straight losses for the Saints. Losing to teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs. Those are all teams that were expected to be good this year. So maybe its not that the Saints are that bad, but maybe those teams were just in better positions during the early part of the season.
We won't know until Carr comes back, and the Saints hit this middle part of the season.
But before we get there, lets take a look back at the season so far...
