They kept hope alive all the way until the final hours of the NFL season, but he New Orleans Saints will not be going to the playoffs this year. Even though they did what they had to on the final weekend, by blowing the doors off the Atlanta Falcons, the Saints didn't get the help they needed to secure a playoff spot.

As the Saints walked off the field, their hopes were still alive, they needed a couple of other teams to slide in their games Sunday for the Saints to sneak in.

After the Saints ended their 48-17 beatdown of the Falcons, they had to watch for the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers to both lose for the Saints to find their way in. Unfortunately for the Saints and their fans, both the Seahawks and Packers won their games...

The Packers and Seahawks were also trying to keep their playoff hopes alive in the final hours of the regular season. The Seahawks beat the Arizona Cardinals 21-20, and then needed the Packers to lose to the Chicago Bears. But it was the Packers that knocked out their final victory of the year and locked in their playoff spot.

The Green Bay Packers will now head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in the first weekend of playoff action.

For the Saints, they head into the offseason with rumors swirling around Head Coach Dennis Allen, as well as all of his coaching staff. The team invested heavily into quarterback Derek Carr in the offseason, and even though he had an injury-filled year, Carr helped to keep the playoff hopes alive down the stretch.

The Saints will have the 14th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, so a gamebreaker might not be anticipated from the pick. They're also $76 million OVER the 2024 salary cap, so restructuring or releasing players is probably coming up soon.
