Two-Time Team USA Olympian Coming to Shreveport
Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is coming back to Downtown Shreveport this August. The 2024 Geek'd Con will take place August 16th, 17th, and 18th, at the Shreveport Convention Center.

Geek'd Con has become one of the biggest "comic con" style events in the state of Louisiana since it started in Downtown Shreveport back in 2015. The event has welcomed over 10,000 fans each weekend since the start. It has also brought millions of dollars in economic impact to the Shreveport and Bossier area.
Every year there are dozens of celebrities that attend the event. From blockbuster movie stars to anime voice actors, and of course...comic book creators. The guest lineup will for 2024 includes horror movie icon Tony Todd, Scrubs star John C. McGinley, the voice of Master Chief Steve Downes, award winning actor Billy Zane, the voice of Mickey Mouse Bret Iwan, and many more incredibly talented celebrities.
On top of that, the lineup will also feature a 2-time US Olympian. He's also a WWE Hall of Fame member, and winner of the title World's Strongest Man. We're talking about Mark Henry.
Mark Henry competed in two Olympic games before he became a WWE superstar. The Olympic website says:
"Mark Henry was a super-heavyweight weightlifter who competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. He won three weightlifting medals at the 1995 Pan American Games, with gold in the snatch. Domestically he won the 1991 US Juniors, and then the 1992-94 and 1996 US Senior titles. He also won golds in 1993-94 at the US Olympic Festival.
Henry also competed in powerlifting and strongman events. He won the International Junior Powerlifting title in 1991, the USAPL National Powerlifting title in 1995 and 1997, and the WDFPF Powerlifting Championship in 1995. In strongman events Henry won the 2002 Arnold Strongman Classic."
Mark Henry will be the only Olympic athlete at Geek'd Con this year, but he's not the only one to ever come to the event. Last year Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle attended the event. They both are WWE Hall of Fame members as well.
