While on a recent weekend getaway to Houston, Texas I encountered something in my hotel room that I had never seen before in my life and it left me a bit confused and wondering what the heck was going on.

Now I have stayed in many hotels and never have I encountered anything like this before. There was a feature in this shower that was very puzzling to me.  I wasn't staying at one of those fancy high-end hotels that have a toilet and a bidet for you to choose from when going to the bathroom, but a feature in the shower that was new to me.

Your typical home and hotel shower has a knob to turn on the water and a shower head where the water comes out, but this shower also had a faucet (bathtub filler spigot) about 6 to 8 inches above the shower floor. It looked very odd to me to have a faucet so low to the ground. I was dumbfounded and not sure what purpose it served.

I have noticed that in newer hotels they are opting to install showers over bathtubs, which I applaud, and was wondering if this was something new.

So why is the water faucet so low to the ground?

That is the question that I was left with when checking out of this hotel. I didn't think to ask the front desk clerk when checking out though. So I am still wondering. I know it has a very meaningful purpose, but right now I'm stumped on exactly what that purpose is. So, if you know a hotel would install a faucet 6 to 8 inches above the floor I'd like to know. Feel free to email me anytime.

If this is a new trend in hotel accommodations I will need to know the purpose because I kept thinking I was going to kick it with my foot while in the shower.
