Summer doesn't officially arrive in Dallas, Texas until June 20th at 3:50 a.m. (Summer Solstice), but living in Texas we know that summer-like temperatures arrive much much sooner than that and we will all be looking for a way to cool off from the scorching Texas sun well before summer arrives.

Thankfully Texas has a lot of fantastic and unique opportunities for Texans to have some fun in the sun while escaping the heat thanks to numerous waterparks, swimming holes, and inflatable obstacle course waterparks.

One of the best waterparks in the state is already open for the season, Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels. The majority of other local and regional waterparks will open May 11th or around Memorial Day weekend (May 25th).

A new style of waterpark is here

There is a new breed of fun on the water with inflatable obstacle course waterparks. Lone Star is home to Rocky Point Adventures located on Ellison Creek Reservoir (Lone Star Lake) and there's a new one opening in New Braunfels on June 1st at Texas Ski Ranch called Adventure Lagoon Texas.

Each floating water park/obstacle course is designed specifically for the lake it's being installed on. The new park in New Braunfels will offer slides and jump zones as well as a continuous water spray system to keep the entire course cool and slippery. Nothing is worse than walking from attraction to attraction on hot pavement, or in this case, hot vinyl!

As with any waterpark, there are activities designed for the youngest of guests as well activities for the thrill seekers and more adventurous. One of the more adventurous attractions at Adventure Lagoon Texas is El Jefe. Here you can slide down a monsterous slide or be launched off of a kicker pad!

Remember the sunscreen

With any outdoor activity this summer, remember to wear sunscreen to protect your skin and limit direct sunlight as much as possible. Getting a sunburn isn't fun, but if you do get one after a day at the waterpark these tips will help relieve the pain.

2024 Opening Dates For Waterparks Around East Texas

When it comes to catching a break from the oppressive East Texas heat and humidity you can turn to any of these nearby water parks.

All indicated prices are subject to change and are set by the individual waterparks. Please check their site for admission information. Some offer special or discounted pricing if purchased online.
