It's not what you think.

Pineapple is a great treat during the hot summer months in south Louisiana.

If you're on the lake or by the pool, a freshly cut pineapple may be all that you need when feeling hungry or even dehydrated.

But did you know that you should flip the pineapple over 12 hours prior to cutting it and serving it?

Well, let's take a look as to why you should and why so many are not inverting their pineapple after trying this "trick".

The reason why many are now flipping their pineapple over prior to cutting and sharing it with others is that this allows the juices that settled to the bottom to be equally dispersed throughout.

When the pineapple is upright for a lengthy period of time at the store, much of the juice settles to the bottom, thus not allowing for the best-tasting experience.

If you invert the pineapple for 12 hours and then cut it, the pineapple will be much sweeter throughout.

Now, we've heard the stories about the upside-down pineapple, so if you're having company over you may want to keep it upright for the time being.

You'd hate for your company at your house to get the wrong message.
