Two people in Louisiana are still alive today after a few good samaritans jumped into a canal to rescue them.

WDSU reports that the car left the roadway and entered into a canal filled with water on West Esplanade Avenue near Cleary Avenue by St. Clement of Rome Church.

When two good samaritans saw the vehicle go into the water, they jumped in to rescue the occupants of the vehicle.

A councilperson who was on the scene of the accident reported in a social media post that one person was taken to East Jefferson General Hospital.

In a separate report by WWL--TV, the car entered the canal after crashing into another vehicle and the two people in the vehicle that ended up in the water were both injured.

The crash is under investigation.
