Just so you know, we are very aware of the irony of presenting this story to you on a day when the entire state of Louisiana is under either a Heat Advisory or an Excessive Heat Warning. We get it, usually heat index temperatures of 115 degrees Fahrenheit don't usually show up in stories about Christmas lights and holiday celebrations.

But such is the nature of life in Louisiana. We are truly an enigma wrapped in mystery and a puzzle that is worth solving. As we were gathering information for this narrative for you I kept hearing the lyrics to the classic Joni Mitchell song "River" running through my head.

But it don't snow here, It stays pretty green I'm going to make a lot of money
Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene

It does stay pretty green around these parts, except in the winter when it gets to be quite "brown" across much of Louisiana. Perhaps that's the reason the investors at Lumiere Events LLC decided that a sparkling brand-new holiday park would be just the thing to put the shimmer back into a Louisiana winter.

According to reports the group, Lumiere Events LLC has already broken ground and started construction on a 32-acre holiday-themed park. The two-million-dollar project will include breathtaking 3-D holiday displays and Louisiana's tallest Christmas Tree. The park will also allow guests to stroll along a lighted ADA-compliant holiday trail.

The park will also provide a delicious selection of food and beverage choices and perhaps the one exhibit that will bring out the child in all of us, a 250-foot snow tubing slide. I must admit, that would be worth the price of admission for me.

The holiday park is being constructed in Desoto Parish near the town of Stonewall. Organizers hope to have the park open and operating by November of this year. The plan is to welcome guests from November through the end of January 2025. Organizers hope the influx of holiday guests to the park will increase tourism dollars spent in Desoto Parish during the Christmas season.

We'll have more details on official opening dates and times later this year. So do check back with us for more information. Now, you don't feel that heat index anymore, do you?
