How Cold Will it Really Be for Halloween Night in Louisiana?

Halloween night across Louisiana is usually good for some shaking and shivering. But most of the time the quaking in our boots and nervous feeling in our stomachs is because of ghoulish monsters, ghosts, and the New Orleans Saints offensive play calling. But since Halloween is on a Tuesday this year we won't be able to blame Dennis Allen for any undue frights but there still could be "a whole lotta shakin' going on".

And we don't mean shaking from fright or fear or things that go bump in the night. Your ghost and goblins that hit the street on Tuesday night might be shaking because Mother Nature finally decided to "whip a little winter" on us. Okay, it's not like we are looking at bitter cold temperatures but Tuesday's forecast will be much different than the weather conditions we will experience over the weekend.

After a weekend where it is possible more high temperature records could be set Louisiana and the eastern half of the nation will begin to chill. That chill will move into the area in the form of a cold front. It's expected to arrive in Louisiana during the nighttime hours of Sunday or early morning hours of Monday.

Behind the front temperatures will be considerably cooler than they are for today. The forecast high temperature on Monday in the Lafayette and Lake Charles area will be in the middle 70s. But, that high temperature will likely come very early in the day on Monday as gusty northerly winds spread the chill across the region.

By Tuesday the cold air will have settled in across Louisiana. The cooler temperatures will be enhanced by a nice northerly breeze as well. The afternoon high on Tuesday will be in the lower 60s at best. Some forecast models keep afternoon high temperatures even cooler. One forecast model suggests that afternoon highs on Tuesday won't make it to 55 degrees.

By Trick-or-Treat time Tuesday evening, almost all of Louisiana will be experiencing temperatures in the 50s along with a stiff breeze. The forecast low on Tuesday night could dip into the upper 30s as far south as US 190 so it will be "brisk" for anyone who goes out in search of candy.

The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Lake Charles is calling for a high on Tuesday along the I-10 corridor to be near 57. The forecasters with KATC Television concur with that observation although they are going one degree cooler and they are adding a 30% chance of showers during the day on Tuesday.
