This is a bold speculation on our part but I am willing to bet that passenger aircraft flying out of Louisiana weigh more than passenger aircraft flying into Louisiana. No, it's not because of extra baggage it's because of Louisiana's good food. We can't help it if other places "eat to live" while we "live to eat", right?

And naturally, when you grow up in a culture of great food it's highly probable that your bathroom scale is not your favorite appliance. Let's face it Louisiana, a lot of us are overweight and while that doesn't matter to our friends and family it can create quite a problem for those larger Louisiana residents who have to board airplanes.

The airlines aren't helping the situation by making seats onboard even smaller. In fact, the average airplane seat's width has dropped from 18 inches to just 16.5 inches in the past ten years. This has led many larger Louisiana travelers to simply not fly or it has forced them to shell out money for cabin upgrades or in some cases pay the fare for two seats in the same row.

But like every problem we encounter in today's world, we can honestly say, "There is a hack for that". And the hack that we, I am a fat guy too, have found is not only freaking genius but it's absolutely free of charge.

Kirsty Leanne is a TikTok travel influencer. She also happens to be a plus-sized person too. She, probably like many of you tried the "middle seat trick" and the "double-aisle book" but found none of those "tricks" were really reliable. Then Kirsty came up with a plan that is so simple, so eloquent, and such a perfect solution for anyone who feels they need more physical room on a plane.

If you couldn't catch Kirsty's video, here's the hack. Once you board the aircraft, even before boarding has concluded and the doors are closed you'll need to summon the flight attendant nearest you. Then, here is the genius part of the hack, you simply ask if there is a row with more space.

The flight attendant can see that you, or in this case, Kirsty is a plus-sized traveler so they will keep that in mind and might actually "reserve" a space for a passenger who respectfully asked for assistance. Kirsty says she also asks about "extra room onboard" at check-in.

It's like your mom always told you, if you ask you'll receive. If you don't you won't. Does this work all the time? No, it doesn't but Kirsty is reporting that she very seldom flies without the extra space she wants and needs, and no, she isn't charged extra.
