Louisiana Student Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Teacher

PONCHATOULA, La. (KMDL-FM) - A 15-year-old student at Ponchatoula High School was arrested on January 7, 2026, after a morning fight on campus left a teacher injured and a security guard struck, according to law enforcement.

According to louisianafirstnews.com, Before 8 a.m., school resource officers and deputies from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) responded to a disturbance outside the school cafeteria involving four students.

The investigation determined that as the fight between the four students unfolded, one student intentionally struck a teacher and a security guard during the altercation.

That same student, reported to 15-years-old, later allegedly threatened additional school administrators after the fight.

Arrest and Charges Filed

The 15-year-old student was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on multiple charges according to fox8live.com which include:

One count of second-degree battery on a school teacher
One count of battery on a school teacher
One count of simple battery on a security guard
One count of simple assault
One count of disturbing the peace by fighting
One count of unlawful disruption of school operations
One count of inciting a riot

The other three students involved in the fight are all expected to recieve summonses for their roles in the altercation.

Louisiana Teacher Injured In School Fight

The teacher who was injured in the altercation was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and has since been released, and according to TPSO no other injuries were reported.

The student also allegedly intentionally assaulted a school security guard who was breaking up the fight.
