Crowley, Louisiana, Teenager Stars in Popular HULU Series As Leader of Girl Gang

Crowley, LA (KPEL News) - The community of Mire lies northeast of Crowley in south Louisiana. For folks who are unfamiliar with the Acadiana area, that's between Lafayette and Lake Charles. However, one of the most popular shows on HULU right now could catapult that small community and the surrounding towns to the top of America's mindset.

Under the Bridge premiered on HULU on April 17, 2024. The true crime miniseries revolves around the murder of a teenage girl in British Columbia and the girls who are accused of killing her. The most recognizable name in the stellar cast is Riley Keough, the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and grand daughter of Elvis. Keough has certainly come into her own, most recently in Daisy Jones and the Six. The show also features some new and relatively unknown names, most notably one young lady who is a junior at Notre Dame High School in Crowley.

According to her IMDb page, Chloe Guidry has several screen appearances to her credit. She's been appearing in films and TV series since 2015, when her first role was playing one of Joe Dirt's daughters in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser.

Chloe plays the part of Josephine Bell, the leader of a girl gang, who lives in a home for troubled girls. She's a bully, best described as a frenemy of the 14-year-old murder victim. The series is based on the book of the same name by Rebecca Godfrey, who is also a character in the show, played by Keough.

Vulture lists it as the Critic's Pick, and Collider reports the Under the Bridge has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%.

Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish is understandably proud of the young lady who has diligently pursued her passion while still being a teenager. Just three days before the premiere of Under the Bridge, she attended her junior prom. Clad in a black dress, she looked stunning on the arm of her plus one.

Having watched the first two episodes, I'm impressed by her talent. She truly captured the essence of a troubled, almost wicked teenager who leads an equally troubled group of girls who have been discarded. They are referred to as "Bic girls" because, as Chloe's character Josephine says:

We're disposable.

The mark of good acting is making the viewer forget that they are watching one person play another. Chloe certainly does that. She's able to evoke a myriad of emotions toward Josephine, from anger at her behavior to pity when you recognize she's acting out from hurt and fear.

Everyone in the Lafayette area, especially those in Acadia Parish, are excited when we see someone from our small slice of the world making it to "the big time." Chloe continues her studies, loves her dog Mae, is a cheerleader, and is a south Louisiana girl through and through.

HULU releases new episodes of Under the Bridge each Wednesday until the series conclusion on May 29.
