A Louisiana State Police trooper was injured on Wednesday night while assisting other troopers in clearing downed trees on Interstate 10.

The trooper was struck by a tree that was down by Hurricane Francine.

The incident happened around 8:00 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 11 when the trooper along with others from Troop A were attempting to remove some downed trees from the roadway on I-10 eastbound near Sorrento.

The trooper suffered minor injuries.

He was taken by another trooper to a local hospital where he remains under observation.
